Cruise lines are always coming up with new ways to convince the potential passenger that their line is best. Each cruising season there are popular trends that can give the experienced cruiser new ports to explore and the novice cruiser a reason to return.
China and the Islands of Greece
Cruisers are taking advantage of the great deals that are being offered for cruising the waters of the Greek islands and the China seas. You can opt for a luxury cruise that caters to your every whim or a more intimate river cruise that will have you up close and personal with the local inhabitants.
The Spas the Limit
The demand for spa services has risen greatly. When travelers are taking a vacation, they are looking for more services to cater to their physical and mental well being. Gyms and other activities such as climbing walls, a track for running or walking as well as fully equipped gym facilities are quickly becoming the norm on cruise ships. Having facilities where you can work off your guilt for attending the late night pizza and taco party can be a relief for many passengers.
Luxury is Expected
Finding ways to pamper yourself when you are cruising has become easier than ever whether you are traveling on a large cruise ship or a liner that is more niche oriented. Many passengers are choosing a more relaxed form of cruising and the lack of luxury is not an option. Cuisine on many cruise lines has been improved as the tastes of passengers have become more sophisticated and expectations have risen.
Ports of Call
China is not the only must see destination this cruising season; all of Asia is waiting for you to explore. The economy of the sister countries of China has boomed in recent years and travel opportunities are many. Think about where you want to spend your vacation and choose your cruise accordingly. Whatever your desire, you can find a cruise option to provide you with just that.

Having a successful cruise depends upon many factors, but the most important one is your attitude. Being polite and minding your manners are especially important when you are cruising as you encounter the same people in the dining room and at the pool day after day. Tweak your attitude before you get on board so that you and your party have a great time on board.
Blunders don’t make Disasters
If you expect perfection on the mega cruise ships, you will be sadly disappointed. Things in your cabin may go wrong, the food may not be up to your expectations and those you are sharing the experience with may not be your cup of tea. This should all be expected as the ship has thousands of passengers to please.
Keep the Noise Levels Down
Yes, you are on vacation, and yes, you are expected to have a good time, but it doesn’t mean you can slam your doors at all hours of the night. Be considerate of other co passengers who might have come on board expecting some calm on their holiday.
Don’t Go Overboard (Not Literally)
As we mentioned, this is your vacation, and you want to have fun, but sometimes the fun can go too far. If you don’t know your alcohol limits before climbing onboard, you should stick to having just one or two drinks. You don’t want to have pictures of yourself passed out or making a fool of yourself in front of the rest of the passengers posted on the cruise line’s website under the title, “What not to do on your cruise vacation.”
Remember that you are paying for the drinks and all the boozing will show up on your final bill before you disembark the ship. You may be in for an unpleasant surprise when you see the bar bill you racked up; so drink with care and caution when you are on a cruise.

Finding a vacation option when you are a single parent presents some unique challenges. Having to handle the children on your own may only be one of your concerns. Consider taking a cruise that caters to the single parent and children.
Problems Solved
Deciding to take a cruise for single parent families can be the ideal solution to many problems. There will always be plenty of other children to play with, lots of activities for you to engage in together as a family and a way to connect with other adults who have many of the same problems you find yourself coping with on a daily basis.
It may also be easier on your pocket when you decide to take a cruise with the kids. All their snacks and beverages will be included in the price and almost all the activities onboard are free. Your kids will enjoy romping in the pool, playing a game of basketball or spending time in the arcade that are common features on many of the cruise lines.
You will be able to hire a babysitter from the ship’s staff, or perhaps you will find a trustworthy teen that is more than happy to make a few extra dollars while you dance the night away or try your luck in the casino. There are also youth programs for all age groups when you take a cruise for single parent families. Your child can engage in supervised play while you pamper yourself at the spa or just enjoy lying in the sun and relaxing.
You will be able to visit a few destinations instead of just one and you can participate in excursions that you and your children will remember fondly for many years to come. There is nothing like taking a vacation where you know your children will be provided for and you can enjoy a worry-free getaway. Who knows, you may even meet your true love while you are on the high seas.

It is never difficult to find new seas to sail and explore. Avid cruisers may find it hard to visit all the best cruising spots in the world, but if you are ready to try a more eastern flavor, you might think about cruising out of India and trolling the Arabian Sea.
What to Expect on the Ship
The ships leave from the port of Mumbai, India, and you can choose a cruise from 1-4 nights aboard ship. There are perks to paying for first class accommodations when you decide to take an Arabian Sea cruise. Staterooms are luxurious and have an ocean view. Imagine immersing yourself on a ponderous divan after a stroll around the ship with your mate. You will also appreciate the spacious closets and your en-suite bathroom.
You can enjoy such amenities as world class entertainment, exciting games in the casinos, Jacuzzis where you can soak beneath the stars and can even include barbeques at poolside. For those who can’t stay away from the links too long, you can keep up your game at the driving range.
Most of these luxury cruisers are pretty free in their style, opting to allow passengers on board to dine wherever they want whenever they are ready.
Ports of Call
Two of the more popular destinations on an Arabian Sea cruise itinerary are Goa and Lakshadweep. You will enjoy the emerald jeweled islands in the Lakshadweep archipelago and enjoy snorkeling in the calm clear waters in Goa. There are many recreational activities you can choose from such as diving, windsurfing and parasailing. For those who prefer to pursue calmer pursuits, you can have a drink beneath the coconut trees and nibble on local biryani or prawn curry.
Cruising on the Arabian Sea may be just the tonic you need to relax and bask in some extraordinary beauty. Take along the kids and make it truly a family affair.

Those who are wheelchair bound often find it extremely difficult to navigate themselves on cruise ships. They need wider doorways, ramps, wheel-in showers as well as furniture that is accessible to handicapped passenger. The good news is that many of the new cruise ships are more accessible for those with handicaps.
On many of the newer ships, it is common to find at least twenty or more staterooms that are wheelchair accessible. They have all the attributes a disabled passenger might need such as handrails, lower sinks and closets that are accessible as well. It wasn’t until the year 2005 when a lawsuit was filed against the Norwegian Cruise Line and was seen in the Supreme Court of the United States that foreign flag ships were required to comply. The ruling from that case entails that any cruise lines that have passengers going to or from any port in the U.S. must provide certain features for disabled passengers.
Though the Americans with Disabilities Act was passed in the year 1990, it didn’t include ships that flew foreign flags. That changed in 2005 with the new Supreme Court’s ruling. The court did not specify that cruise lines had to make any major changes in the structure in order to comply.
Many of the older cruise ships have been upgraded in their interiors merely because the demand for handicapped friendly cruise ships has increased in recent years. It is said that traveling on a cruise ship is the preferred mode of travel for many with disabilities as many of the ships have become especially disabled user friendly.
It is a convenient way to explore the wonders that the world has to offer if you are confined to a wheelchair or have other limited mobility. These ships have such added features as elevators, boarding platforms and providing wheel chair accessible water fountains.

Taking a river cruise may just be the cruising experience you have long been seeking. On the mega cruise ships, you can get lost on the ship, literally as well as figuratively. Though there is lots of space, you never truly feel any sense of privacy unless you are in your stateroom.
On the other hand, on a river cruise, you will get to know the other passengers on a more intimate level as there aren’t as many of you. You will enjoy quieter dinners and feast on cuisine that is far superior to the larger ships.
Another benefit of river cruising is that you will get to see more spectacular scenery and visit unique places the larger ships can’t reach. Imagine traveling through the majestic fjords of Alaska with only the wind in your ears and the soft breeze caressing your cheek as you and your loved one stand at the railing drinking in the beauty before you.
A ship that cruises the narrower rivers is smaller, so there aren’t as many activities available as there are on the bigger cruise ships. Though the amenities aren’t as numerous, they are as elegant and sophisticated, if not more so, than those you would find on a mega cruise ship. You will still be able to enjoy many of the things you would on the big ships, there just won’t be non-stop activities planned throughout the day. You are encouraged to enjoy the journey as well as the destination when you travel on an intimate river cruise.
The staff will be more attentive as there will be fewer passengers for them to worry about. The food will be better as the chef doesn’t have to cook for so many and will be able to prepare more elaborate meals for passengers to enjoy. On the big cruise ships, with 3500 passengers onboard and food being offered around the clock, the quality may suffer because of the quantity.
