Celebrity’s baby Azamara, deluxe to the hilt
Have you ever heard of an existing cruise liner with a great goodwill in the market to split itself into two and operate them under separate name? Well the cruise liner fleet of Celebrity Cruises has done just that and introduced into the market a new brand name by the call of Azamara Cruises. Invented specially for the occasion the word Azamara has a conjunction of blue (aza ) and sea (mar). Hoping for blue seas bestowing their beauty on them this is the luxury segment of celebrity cruises.
This cruise liner built originally for the Renaissance cruises, are the 700 passenger R-Class ships. One of these vessels has already been on the sea as Celebrity journey, and now will be relaunched as Azamara Journey in a re launch. The second ship will be launched in October by the name of Azamara Quest.
The Azamara is targeting the group between “premium” and the “luxury” bracket. Azamara has decided to offer a brand at slightly expensive prices but which are still within reach. Trying to carve a niche in this area is though not going to be very easy because the competitor Oceania Cruises, which is immensely popular, has already a name for itself in this same group in R-Class vessels.
Azamara Cruises President Dan Hanrahan, who also is president of Celebrity, said “Azamara Cruises is expressly designed for travel enthusiasts who appreciate what a cruise vacation has to offer, but are looking for something a little different, and a little more special. And what’s special about Azamara Cruises is its distinctive combination of impeccable service, exceptional cuisine and off-the-beaten-path destinations, with truly immersive excursions.”
The vessels of journey and quest will have services to the likeness of plasma TV’s, two complimentary pair of slippers, plush European bedding, flowers, fruit elmis toiletries and not to mention a butler in every stateroom and suite. These facilities are very like the concierge type facilities provided by the premium liners.
Celebrity being a “premium” cruise has always been trying to woo customers to pay a little bit more due to the extra that they put in. This is another strategy to put forth a new brand altogether so that there is loyal customer growth and that the image of celebrity and Azamara remain intact as premium and deluxe lines respectively.
